Wisdom Wednesday: Tips From an Interior Designer

Ever wonder how you can make a home your home? Interior Designer Brynna Walchle takes us behind-the-scenes with Fixture Studio, the design firm behind Copper Creek homes. Here, she shares a few tips on how to elevate your home and what colors people have been gravitating to. Whether you’re building new or wanting a change, her insights help create an approachable way to better living.

How Interior Designers affects Home Building

Fixture Studio is a design and home build firm involved in every phase of the home’s design and construction process. From finish to full renovations, Fixture Studio works closely with homeowners and builders–like Copper Creek–to create homes that feel intentional, cohesive, and lived-in.

At the heart of Fixture Studio’s design work is interior designer Brynna Walchle. Brynna graduated from University of Louisville, Kentucky, in 2021 with a BFA in Interior Design. About a year later, she moved to Grand Junction, where she has continued to grow her career in the design industry with Fixture Studio.

Here at Copper Creek, we offer three interior design packages curated by Fixture Studio: Colorado Cottage, Scandinavian Villa, European Farmhouse. These packages allow our buyers to rest easy knowing their color and finish selections were designed by true professionals.

The process behind creating these packages starts with a theme. Brynna describes the approach as “What does this house want to be?” From there, she draws inspiration from what she consistently sees homeowners gravitate towards, whether that’s warm farmhouse character or light, airy Scandinavian interiors. Those ideas were then refined into our three signature packages. The result of her expertise? A home that feels intentional, flowy, and balanced.

Tips to Elevate Your Home

With packages in place, Brynna also shares a few simple tips on how homeowners can level up their home and make them feel more curated. She starts with an important piece of advice: “Do what makes you happy. . . Your home should feel like you; it should feel lived in.”

Brynna has also noticed a shift away from blander neutrals such as whites and beiges. “Don’t be afraid to add any color!” she encourages. Powder bathrooms, for example, are a fun space to experiment and show off your personality. “[powder bathrooms] could add a lot of fun pop. You could make it really moody, you could add paint, or wallpaper.”

For those that want less color commitment, Brynna suggests looking at more impermanent accents like pillows, rugs, and decor which are all easy to change. Her overarching message? “Your house should reflect you.”

When asked about current color trends, Brynna states how she likes deep, rich tones. Think rust, jewel tones, and navy blues. Colors that add depth, warmth, and a welcoming feel to a home.

By embracing color and personal touches, what was just a home can start to feel like your home.
